About me

I am Guoguo Zhang, currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at Durham University, working on AI for audio and music. My research sits at the intersection of machine learning, audio signal processing, and human–computer interaction, with a focus on multimodal affective computing and generative music — including real-time interactive systems, digital humans, and clinical music therapy.

Before Durham, I completed a Master of Music in Piano Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. That performance background continues to shape how I think about expressivity, interaction, and evaluation in computational music systems. Grounded in cognitive science and neuroscience, my work aims to build interactive, emotion-aware musical systems that support both therapeutic and artistic creation.
